Cébé since 1892
THE BRAND
Synonymous with excellence in French eyewear, the history of the CÉBÉ brand began in 1892, on avenue Charles de Gaulle in Morez, in the workshops of Joseph Cretin-Maitenaz. This enthusiast revolutionized the world of sports eyewear, and CÉBÉ goggles equipped thousands of adventurers around the world. Faithful to this heritage and resolutely looking to the future, CÉBÉ is always seeking new horizons to explore, with a mission to live in harmony with the earth, water and sky, protecting your eyes and head, while cherishing the great outdoors.

Our History
OUR ORIGINS
Our origins are at the heart of the automotive and mountaineering worlds. Some great figures have forever left their mark on the brand’s history. Such was the case of Walter Cecchinel, the man behind the legendary range of glacier glasses of the same name, or Carl Benz, the founder of Mercedes-Benz, who commissioned CÉBÉ to design custom-made driving glasses for himself and his dog, even though the windshield had not yet been invented! And also Bruce McLaren, race car driver.

Our History
60s & 70s
As it grows, the company expands its business into the manufacture of ski goggles and helmets, while continuing to equip race car drivers. In the 1960's Ski champions such as Jean-Claude Killy, three-time Olympic alpine ski champion in 1968, trust CÉBÉ for their ski helmets and goggles.
In 1970, Walter Cecchinel, a famous French mountaineer, left an indelible mark on the brand’s history by inspiring a range of special glacier sunglasses.

Our History
2000s
In 2000 CÉBÉ introduces its revolutionary temple construction, which allows users to benefit from the highest level of frame stability ever achieved: S’Tech. The brand wins the gold at the prestigious IPSO Awards in 2013 for the design of its S’Track model, originally conceived by and for experienced trail runners including François d’Haene, multiple winner of the famous UTMB.
In 2018 CÉBÉ launches its unique SENSOR glass technology, enabling users to better distinguish different shades of brown in mountain environments. At the same time, the EXO OTG goggle, combining a magnetic shield and a special construction for spectacle wearers, wins the ISPO Award, while the Versatile helmet, a revolutionary modular helmet offering maximum air circulation thanks to its innovative Ultra Venting System construction, wins the ISPO Gold Award in 2021.
